Yesterday on January 28th, 2019, the United States imposed sanctions on Venezuela's national oil company, the PDVSA in an effort to economically isolate the country's contested leader, Nicolas Maduro. Now the big question on everyone's mind is: How is that going to affect Venezuela's oil exports?

So far during the month of January 2019, we have spotted and identified three foreign VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier; ~2 million barrel capacity) supertankers successfully pick up crude oil and gas condensates out of Iran.

When the US Department of Treasury imposed economic sanctions on Iran, they announced that eight countries were issued six month waivers to continue importing Iran's oil. One of them was Taiwan. The country couldn't continue importing because payment mechanisms ceased. We now examine their plan B.
